The script tried to utilize its chances to get all serious and psychological about desire, violence, repentance and all that. But the campy acting throughout, especially by the male lead, gets in the way. The narrative flows pretty smooth, often taking unexpected turns, and offers a cold, steely look at the Japanese porn magazine industry. Some of the supporting characters are very well-written. It may appear to some viewers that a lot of events are happening out of nowhere, but who cares about that when those are shot so well and look so good on screen?
